Pareto.AI is in the premium data annotation space, focused on ethical, high-quality data annotation. We work with almost all of the frontier labs. We are a fully distributed, remote-first company with engineering teams spread around the world. Some of us work hybrid from our office in SF. There is essentially no restriction on where you're located as long as you're not from a sanctioned country and are willing to adjust to either a US or EMEA timezone.
We have a few full-time, fully-remote roles available. For those two below, we've recently restructured how we do engineering at Pareto and are looking to be very talent dense. I've hired successfully from HN multiple times in the past, so if you have expertise in those respective tech stacks I'd love to chat:
* Lead/Senior+ Backend Eng: https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/pareto-ai/569f4da0-801c-433a-978f-5...
* Lead/Senior+ Frontend Eng: https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/pareto-ai/47552c42-82c1-4bcd-a1f7-e...
We're also looking to hire some shorter term contractors. We have a couple of projects around refactoring and migrating to a new design system, as well as some shorter term projects around compliance, so if you're only available for a short time we'd likely have room for you too:
* Short term/Contract -> Mid-Staff level Front/Backend/Full stack Eng: https://pareto.ai/careers?ashby_jid=4cbdb231-c7c5-40cd-ad9d-...
Backend code-writing roles require a really strong command of Python. Equally for the frontend roles you really need to understand your TypeScript and React. You're expected to have a lot of responsibility.
No recruiting agencies or similar.
You can reach me directly at steven@[domain] if you have any questions that aren't covered by this post or the job listings, but any applications would need to go directly through the link above. After you have applied, feel free to drop me a one-liner email with the subject "Via HN: Applied" letting me know so I can make sure you don't get caught up in the screening flow.

I'm the cofounder & CTO of Krea (https://www.krea.ai). We are a startup in San Francisco building browser-based AI creative tools to improve the workflows of artists, designers, and professional creatives. Small team (~24); millions of active users; and raised over $83M from top Silicon Valley investment firms.
We're looking for talented engineers who want to tackle hard technical challenges with smart people while building a creative platform that big companies and startups will rely on.
The job:
- Build distributed systems to process massive (billions of files, petabytes), amounts of image, video, and 3D data, solving scaling bottlenecks as you go.
- Learn ML engineering from world-class researchers on a small tight-knit team. You’ll contribute to foundation image, video, and world models from 0 → production, and see them used by millions.
- Play with huge Kubernetes GPU clusters; our main GPU cluster takes up an entire datacenter from our provider.

You should apply if you are an excellent generalist engineer with strong backend experience and an intuition for systems design. Bonus points for experience with dist. systems, k8s, and existing ML or data experience (but not required!). Cool side projects are a green flag.

d+hn@krea.ai (the +hn will bump your email in my inbox)We are hiring software engineer(s) to help innovate on applied agentic applications and governance/alignment at runtime.
Specifically, you will help us release and further enhance https://github.com/eqtylab/cupcake - a solution derived from our Claude Code feature request for hooks. We believe hooking into the agent harnesses will be critical for scaled adoption; ambitions for purely LLM-driven trusted behavior exist today- but we must empower those responsible for run-time with deterministic guarantees. We do so by hooking into the harnesses - Claude Code, and now supported by Cursor, soon Gemini CLI. Beyond coding agents, we look to apply this to web harness agents, whether it's LangChain, Google ADK, etc.
We are looking for an engineer, or devrel equiv, that can:
- help develop across the full stack from an integration perspective (build the supporting bindings and SDK abstractions for web-based frameworks) - create quality demonstrations/tutorials/advocacy - continue to advance on the forefront of agentic security as well as better performance for agents. Competitive salary and equity.ramos at eqtylab.io

- Generate 70,000 patient notes daily using ASR and LLMs, and have saved clinicians 2.7 million hours
- Created a consumer-grade UX, with greater enthusiasm than any product I've seen (https://love.getfreed.ai/b2xGQ1)
- Raised $30M led by Sequoia Capital, and are rapidly expanding our product offering
- Build at the forefront of AI (e.g. https://www.getfreed.ai/ehr-push, an AI agent for integrating with EHRs)
Our engineering culture emphasizes speed, end-to-end ownership, responsibility, and independence. Our tech stack is React and TypeScript / Node.js.

Our mission at Surge is to build the human infrastructure behind the next wave of AI and LLMs. We operate the largest human data platform in the industry and power the AI teams at all of the top AI labs. This year, we've been focusing on RL environments and agentic workflows to help our clients ship agents that interact with the world. Here are some examples of our past work:
- Creating the GSM8K dataset: https://www.surgehq.ai/blog/how-we-built-it-openais-gsm8k-da...
- Collecting RLHF data for Anthropic's Claude: https://www.surgehq.ai/case-studies/anthropic-claude-surgeai...
You’d be joining a rapidly growing team of former engineering and ML leaders from Google, Meta, Twitter, and Airbnb. We work in small groups, ship quickly, and value autonomy and ownership. No previous AI experience is required, if you have the engineering skills you can learn what you need on the job.
We're looking for senior engineers to work out of our offices in SF or NYC, or remotely. Please reach out to us at careers@surgehq.ai with a resume and 2-3 sentences describing your interest. Excited to hear from you!

Elicit is building AI for science. We scaled to >$7MM annual revenue and 450k MAU fast. We're hiring for multiple roles and are primarily interested in people with early-stage company experience, who are comfortable in high-agency, fast-paced teams.
Reasons you might want to join Elicit:
1. We have been thinking about how to apply AI for high-stakes knowledge work since even before GPT-1. Elicit was spun-out from Ought (https://ought.org/) which was an applied research lab.
2. If you're concerned about the potential downsides and risks of super-powerful AI: so are we! Happy to explain more of this story on a call, or you can also check e.g. https://ought.org/updates/2022-04-06-process for a primer.
3. We like spending time with each other, and have get-togethers every 6 weeks, but we're flexible on location.
Reasons you might not want to join Elicit:
1. We've found a level of product market fit (as evidenced by metrics) but we've not proven everything out yet. If you want predictability, Elicit is not for you.
2. We aim to hire people who thrive in low-bureaucracy environments, and let them loose. If you need structure, lots of support, close mentorship, or tightly-defined work assignments, Elicit is not for you.

We recently announced $14.4 million in funding to make blockchains & digital assets useful for the world. Founded by Jump Crypto alumni and core contributors to the Solana protocol and the Firedancer client (https://github.com/firedancer-io/firedancer), we’re tackling fundamental scalability, performance, and usability challenges in distributed ledgers.
Our runtime conforms to the RISC-V specification—moving away from domain-specific VMs, DSLs, and bespoke compiler toolchains that limit developer and institutional adoption.
