Intuit | Mountain View, CA or San Diego, CA or Remote | Onsite | Remote OK | https://intuit.com/
The platform teams at Intuit in Mountain View and San Diego are building the Intuit Kubernetes Service. We open sourced this work at https://github.com/keikoproj and operate a large constellation of clusters running this code. An Istio-based service mesh is layered on top and is integrated with our own high-performance ingress solution. This infrastructure runs the financial software serving more than 100 million customers worldwide - providing them with critical services like accounting, payroll, money movement etc. All of these infra components (k8s, nodes, mesh, ingress) are really difficult to configure, upgrade, and manage. So we are building another layer (think OAM) to abstract it all and turn Kubernetes, Mesh, and Ingress into an implementation detail. Developers have loved this new platform so far. We continue to push the boundaries of cloud-native tech. We do this in open source and donate to the CNCF. We want to make Kubernetes and mesh easy for anyone in the world to use. We need your help with this! Apply here: http://jobs.intuit.com/job/mountain-view/senior-software-eng... or reach out directly (see profile).
Airtable | San Francisco/Mountain View CA; New York, NY; Austin TX; Seattle WA | Onsite | Software Engineer (many roles), Data Scientist, Designer, UX Researcher, SRE, IT System Engineer, Engineering Manager
Airtable's mission is to democratize software creation by enabling anyone to build tools that meet their unique needs. Unlike single-purpose apps, we think of Airtable as a toolkit of building blocks that people repurpose to create their own applications. The best-known part of our product is a real-time, collaborative database, but we have layered automations and user-defined interfaces on top of that foundation, enabling our users to create full-fledged applications on our platform.
Many of the challenging engineering problems at Airtable stem from the surprising scale and complexity of the databases that our users build. To address this problem, we recently shipped an ambitious change to our client-server architecture which loads less data into the client at runtime; this required some deep investigation into corner cases of our synchronization protocol. Read all about it here: https://medium.com/airtable-eng/the-curious-case-of-the-miss...
We're hiring software engineers for web (JavaScript + TypeScript, Node, React), iOS (Objective-C, Swift), and Android (Java, Kotlin), as well as data engineering, data science, SRE, and many other roles.
We're a team with diverse backgrounds. We believe in the power of highly motivated and capable individuals to accomplish great things in small teams, with end-to-end ownership of projects and rapid iteration.
Lastly, a word about the macroeconomic climate: these are challenging times for many startups, but we believe Airtable's outlook remains strong:
- Our customers span a diverse portfolio of industries, making us less vulnerable to single-sector shocks.
- Our product allows companies to do more with less (making people more productive, and replacing narrow single-purpose tools); this makes our value proposition strong even for businesses that may be looking closely at costs.
- A considerable fraction of our revenue comes from long-term contracts, which are less affected by short-term market fluctuations.
- Our strong past fundraising and current revenue give us considerable runway.

[COVID-19: Our offices are open, with safety protocols in place. We are encouraging teams to choose one in-office day per week for face-to-face collaboration. We also provide dedicated desks for employees who prefer to work in the office more frequently. However, we also permit employees to continue working out-of-office full-time for any reason. Employee safety is our top priority.]
