Background: px dynamics was founded by me less than half a year ago, I have 15 years experience in short term power trading in European markets, esp. algo trading. I do some consulting to bootstrap the company with and build customer relations. Simultaenously, we're starting to build a product business. For that we have strengthened the team with a Senior ML Engineer (ex google) and a Head of Data with prior experience in setting up data pipelines in this domain. The products we build are in a broad sense trading signals, e.g. to help traders of renewable or flexible assets trade their positions better.
Role: So given that it is pretty early days, we're of course looking for a broader skillset to lead the development especially of the cloud and backend infrastructure (hetzner), but eventually also frontend applications. Techstack so far is obviously minimal (linux, python, bash, postgres/timescale), so there is plenty of room to also shape this. What we as a team value is simplicity, really clean code/architectures, excellent documentations and quality over speed. So we're not trying to glue together the next venture to scam a bunch of VCs, but to really build something excellent.

Company: We're a small scientific software development company that develops custom scientific and engineering analysis applications in domains including: space situational awareness (monitoring the locations, health and status of on-orbit satellites), image simulation, high power microwave systems, modeling and simulation, laser systems modeling, AI/ML including physics-informed neural networks (PINN), human body thermoregulation, computer vision and image processing, high performance computing (HPC), computer aided design (CAD), and more. Experience: Except for interns, we currently require a Bachelors degree in physics, engineering, math, computer science, or a related field. Masters or PhD is a plus. (Roughly 25% of our staff have PhDs.)

At Profitmind, we're building massive-scale ecommerce datasets to use in AI training/inference, and we need a junior engineer to help develop the scraping infrastructure for product data. You'll be reverse-engineering undocumented APIs, handling anti-bot systems, and dealing with edge cases like pagination limits, rate limiting, and sites that change their protection schemes without warning. It's fun work! The technical side involves analyzing a site's network requests, deobfuscating and reading obfuscated javascript, and implementing simple HTTP request scraping to full browser automation. You'll also work on the infrastructure layer: state management for resumable scrapes, deduplicating products, data integrity, and monitoring systems to detect when sites change.
The work you'll be doing is in the hot path of our company, so the systems you will build need to be performant and maintainable. You should have solid Python skills and experience scraping ecommerce websites and APIs. You should also like the slightly-obsessive investigative nature of the work.
