No previous AI experience is required, if you have the engineering skills you can learn what you need on the job.
We're looking for senior engineers to work out of our offices in SF or NYC, or remotely. Please reach out to us at careers@surgehq.ai with a resume and 2-3 sentences describing your interest. Excited to hear from you!
I’m the founder, trying to do “enlightened business.” We are a small, worker-first, fully-remote, SF-based, boutique indie tech agency. Our leadership staff are ex-Fortune 100; everybody codes. Notable recent projects: internal tools for Anduril, and voltagepark.com.
We are looking for Full-Stack Software Engineers with proficiency in React development, database design, and third-party API integration. Tier3 roles are typically 5-10 y/o/e with $170-$240k annual total comp. Tier4 roles are 7-20 y/o/e, $220-$285k annual total comp. Higher tiers exist, and we welcome exceptional applications. Fully remote positions available.
Please apply using this Google Form: https://forms.gle/oNJs2tCi8hBYrd9t7. Applicants who submit before May 9 will receive a reply by May 16.
Applicants must meet a high bar; in return, I pledge my personal commitment to finding you interesting work and getting you good pay. You are free to submit again even if you have already done so in the past.
We're a Seed-stage legal tech startup working to eliminate manual doc review, the most hated part of every lawyer's early career.
Our founding team is highly experienced (I was CTO of a large analytics company through its successful exit; our CTO was a Staff Data Engineer at Reddit and his two prior companies had successful exits; our COO was the COO of an MIT Media Lab spinoff and head of product at a number of early stage startups). And although it's very much the early days of the business, our product is the best in the world at its particular niche and we already have about 20 paid customers including legal teams at some of the largest companies in the world.
We're looking for someone who is focused on the frontend (NextJS) but can flex across the stack — it would be delightful if you were comfortable dropping into the backend (Python/FastAPI/Postgres/EKS) and even more delightful if you were comfortable making design decisions since we're early enough we don't have a designer on staff. More important than any particular technical skill, we're looking for someone who has a strong product sense and is motivated by customer problems, who has strong accountability, and who is excited to be hire #2 at a rapidly growing company with all of the chaos and opportunities for growth that come with that.

We recently announced $14.4 million in funding to make blockchains & digital assets useful for the world. Founded by Jump Crypto alumni and core contributors to the Solana protocol and the Firedancer client (https://github.com/firedancer-io/firedancer), we’re tackling fundamental scalability, performance, and usability challenges in distributed ledgers. Our runtime conforms to the RISC-V specification—moving away from domain-specific VMs and bespoke compiler toolchains that limit developer and institutional adoption. Components are developed in C for maximal control over performance and resource usage.
Interesting problems you’ll tackle:
- Building and testing high-performance subsystems in C (cryptographic routines, consensus primitives, networking protocols)
- Designing robust process isolation on modern CPU architectures and tile-based multi-core layouts
- Optimizing memory hierarchies, cache utilization, and low-level I/O for commodity servers
You:
- 5+ years of systems programming in C/C++, Rust, or similar
- Deep expertise in CPU microarchitecture, memory subsystems, and low-level performance tuning
- Strong understanding of distributed systems design and consensus protocols
- Experience with high-performance networking and protocol design in real-time environments

Felt is building a cloud-based geographic information systems (GIS) solution and have hundreds of customers already using it to run their operations, processing terabytes of data. Our team hails from Uber, Google, Meta, CARTO, Mapbox, The New York Times and a few others. If you have used online maps in the past few years, you have used their work. My co-founder and CEO, Sam, is a former YC founder who sold his previous company [1] and I'm an early Uber engineer.
For the first time, we are hiring a product manager that is going to be focused on our growth funnels within our service. This person will own the onboarding journey and help those first-time customers become loyal users. This role comes at a special time where we have launched a brand new version of our SDKs and APIs where customers, especially in large enterprises, can fully integrate Felt into their own tooling [2]
Ideal candidates will have 4+ years of experience focus on growth and onboarding within B2B SaaS and/or PLG companies. They will have a proven track record, own metrics such as time to value, be comfortable owning touchpoints, and designing and running experiments.
As mentioned, this role is the first product role at our fast growing company and will have strong leadership potential. You'll be joining a team that's build groundbreaking tools before, and is on the cusp of doing it again.
We are well-funded with a long runway and a strong revenue funnel already. You can read more about it our first funding here [3], and our announcement here [4]. Our terms are employee-friendly terms such as early exercise, a 10-year exercise window and even a matching 401(k).[5]
If you are interested, please reach out via hello@felt.com and mention HN and the role you are applying to. This role is based in SF Bay Area, in our Oakland office that's right next to the BART station. [6]
